Hotel is great but restaurant is uninspriring
The initial impression of the hotel is fantastic! From the outside it looks wonderful. The interior of the hotel is mainly very good. Our room was comfortable and we had a great view. We also enjoyed using the spa facilities. However, the restaurant was decidedly below par. The décor was outdated and uninspiring. The food was nice enough, but as I am vegetarian, the choice was dire. I had 2 options on the menu! Also I have to say that implying that certain things , like the focaccia was "for the table". was laughable. When this arrived, it was literally a bread roll cut in half!! I realise that the restaurant was very busy, but we waited for 45 mins for just our drinks! Although we enjoyed the hotel and the spa, I would not book again, purely because the restaurant was not great. It is a real shame as the food we had was very nice but the dining room itself is exactly the same as when I last came to the hotel many years ago. I think a refurb of the restaurant is well overdue.
Can’t wait to visit again
I had a pleasant stay at this hotel for start to finish. From the moment I entered the hotel I was greeted by Will on reception. he was fabulous and very inviting. The bar is beautiful with lovely scenery. I had lunch with my elderly grandmother and she was struggling getting up the stairs and a lovely lady called Lily gave her assistance. On Sunday, I had a roast which was cooked to perfection. Charlie was helpful and tentative with an amazing attitude quite the cheeky chap. Ellie was also very helpful in the restaurant. She was answering my grandmother‘s questions. And helped assist her with her carvery

Good hotel for golfers
Overall a beautiful hotel but disappointed with a few issues in the room which I wouldn’t expect from a 4 star hotel. The shower (over the bath was very slow draining which was unpleasant. There was also the noise of constant running water into a cistern from a room above which continued all night and until we vacated the room the following morning. We mentioned both these issues to reception but nothing was done. On a more positive note, breakfast was a delight, with a great selection of hot food and cold food and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Fabulous Spa Day
I had a very relaxing spa day. I was booked with Claudia for head / neck massage & it was one of the best massages I've had on a spa day. We also had a delicious lunch and great service. Thanks to Amy also who was super helpful during the booking process.
The Bolthole - Great for families & hen do’s
We stayed with friends in the Bolthole which is a lovely cottage in the hotel grounds. Everything was wonderful. The decor was lovely with a really cosy feeling. The beds were so comfortable so we had a great nights sleep. Bathrooms were clean & spacious with a good selection of toiletries. In the main hotel all the staff were friendly & attentive. The bar was great & we sampled some cocktails which were all freshly made. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much & would highly recommend the Bolthole for families or a girly weekend with friends.
Wonderful hotel
Loved our stay at the Bolthole (small cottage) at the hotel. Great for families, group of friends. The grounds are beautiful, staff attentive. Historic, lovely old charm. We’ll return. Loved it
Great Spa Weekend!
I’ve just enjoyed a fabulous spa weekend at Dunston Hall. My friend and I checked in early and enjoyed a fabulous lunch in the bar. The hotel room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. For my spa treatment, I chose a back massage with full body scrub and it was just what I needed. I asked for something relaxing and Rebecca made sure of that. Dinner was amazing and we also enjoyed the vast choice at breakfast. We will definitely be back. Thank you.
Great stay.
Had a great stay with friends, rooms were spacious. clean well decorated. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The general manager was very friendly and welcoming. Stake of the art driving range finished off our stay perfectly. Would definitely return.
Relaxing afternoon spa visit
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing experience at Dunston Hall Spa. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The facilities were very good too. The spa treatment massage by Georgia was excellent and would highly recommend to anybody looking for a similar relaxing afternoon.

Delighted with Dunston Hall
Such a fabulous stay at the beautiful Dunston Hall. An amazingly spacious room with the most incredible view over the golf course and the comfiest bed and pillows! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left every member of staff was a delight and a special thank you to Lily, Jane and Rosie for looking after us so well and for the recommendations from the new menu in the restaurant, all of the dishes that we tried were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed…especially that tiramisu! I managed to make time for a swim before dinner and again before breakfast which was lovely and relaxing and breakfast was plentiful and just as delicious as dinner. I didn’t not want to leave and hope to come back soon!
Wonderful spa 1/2 day
I was gifted a spa voucher and decided upon a Signature spa day which included use of the pool, a 50 minute treatment and lunch. The whole day was lovely. Of special note is Caroline, my therapist. She explained everything and checked in to ensure my needs. She was a very skilled therapist and I really benefited from the massage. Caroline made me feel very cared for which meant an enormous amount. After the therapy there was time to use the relaxing lounging area where I very nearly dozed off! I would have offered a 5 star review apart from having to wander between pool, restaurant and treatment rooms. It's not far, but being troubled with arthritis the stairs were of note. There possibly was a lift but this wasn't pointed out to me. However, this in no way detracted from an overall wonderful spa 1/2 day experience.
Lovely girls Spa day with Afternoon Tea.
We had a lovely day in the Spa with Afternoon Tea and a half hour Soa treatment with a Wowcher voucher. The Spa and pool area was clean and tidy, staff were lovely (especially Victoria who gave me my facial) and the afternoon tea was lovely too. We’ll go again for a catch up and pamper.
Great stay. Much needed massage by Caroline
Beautiful hotel and great location. Good sized, nicely done, clean rooms. Great service from everyone, with a special mention for Caroline who gave me a great massage and was very friendly. Good amenities with the pool, jacuzzi, steam, sauna and gym. Nice atmosphere at dinner too.

Beautiful Hotel and grounds with a lovely relaxing Spa
Had a Spa day at this beautiful picturesque Hotel and stayed overnight in a clean comfortable room, I had a full body massage with neck, shoulders and scalp massage with Claudia she listened to where I needed it most and gave me an amazing 1 hour and 15 mins massage it had to be the best one yet and I've had a few, she was also very friendly and polite too. The young lady on the spa reception Victoria was so lovely and helpful with me she welcomed me with a beautiful smile and was friendly the whole day and she was very busy but kept happy the whole time. I really enjoyed my time at the spa I will definitely be returning. Thank you

Guests are invited to use the Health Club facilities on a complimentary basis during their stay, between check-in at 3pm until check-out at 11am.

Access to the facilities is subject to availability and capacity at the time of use.

Spa treatments are available at an additional charge.

If you've booked a spa day or spa break with us, you'll be given a complimentary fluffy robe to use for the duration of your spa experience. Please note, those joining us for individual treatments do not receive a complimentary robe, though these can be hired for £5. 

Slippers/flip flops can be purchased from the spa team on arrival. Alternatively, you're welcome to bring along your own footwear. 

Our treatments are suitable for people over the age of 16. We do not provide treatments for children under 16. 

A number of our spa packages include a delicious light lunch and a glass of Prosecco. Our menu changes regularly, but please call the spa on 01508 473 826 if you'd like further information. You can also upgrade to an indulgent Afternoon Tea if you'd like an extra treat.
